Mono Ringtones
Remember the days when cell phones were as big as our heads? Remember the days when your cell phone would ring, and you couldn’t tell if it was your cell phone or your regular landline home phone? And then there were the days of Mono ringtones. Mono ringtones are what most people had on their cell phones as technology slowly advanced and phones became more advanced and more compact. The industry evolved; caller ID was readily available on all cellular phones, something which was hardly made available (affordably at least) for landline phones and was a luxury to those who had it. Mono ringtones were just fine back then; there were no complicated polyphonic ringtones or live voice or real music ringtones to have to worry about taking all of the memory space in your phone. Back then, text messaging was not the most efficient way of getting in touch with people when a phone call wasn’t appropriate.
If you don’t know what mono ringtones are, flip open your phone and check out the melodic ringtones that are pre programmed into your phone; those are monophonic ringtones. There is no harmony in mono ringtones. Monophonic ringtone makers were more widely available back then, as they were even built into some cellular phones (many Nokia phones had monophonic ringtone makers built into them). Free monophonic ringtones were available when mono ringtones first gained popularity, but not as widely available as free ringtones are made available now; these days your cellular phone service provider may offer some ringtones on a free basis, and some on a paid basis or a membership based basis. Mono ringtones are great still, even in the age of real voice ringtones. They are great for professional phones, or work sponsored cellular phones. They are a great deal more professional than some of the real voice ringtones that are out these days, and great for text message alerts. Also, with the new wave in camera phones people need more and more of the memory space in the phone that pictures require, so if you find yourself having that problem chick out the mono ringtones that are available on your phone.
