Ringtones By Provider
There are great deal of free ringtone sites out there, many of which are conducted and maintained by many of the cell phone service providers out there. Downloading ringtones by provider is often frowned upon, but things have improved. These sites often have a section for free ringtones and a section for ringtones that cost a small fee. Normally the tones that are not free are of a better quality than the free tones that are offered; providing free ringtones is pretty much a way of advertising for the better quality ringtones. Different ringtone providers usually provide different ringtones, but the ones that cost are usually the ring tones that are of the latest R & B or Pop songs on the radio. When you hear good quality ringtones that sound just like the radio, chances are that the user downloaded ringtones by provider. These aren’t free and if they are, the provider usually designated a certain amount for free before the per-ringtone charges start kicking in. Sprint has always been a source for great ringtones by provider downloads. They are pretty up to date on the latest hits on the radio at all times, and they are up to date with their screen savers and games as well, taking a number from a lot of the hits in the movie theatres. However, starting at $2.99 a piece for polyphonic or real music ringtones, they get a bit pricey to download more than one or two every month. Of course these charges are billed to the phone bill and not to a credit or debit card, but this is one way that cellular phone bills can start to get a bit out of control—from excess downloads of ringtones, screen savers and games. Downloading ringtones by provider can get to be quite the addiction!
Cingular and Verizon have also come up quite fast as far as their free and paid provider ringtones go, but they are always in the shadow of Sprint/Nextel; even before the merger of the two companies, Sprint has always had the latest in technology as far as cellular phones and their phones were the first phones to really allow polyphonic ringtones.
