Crazy Frog Ringtones
Crazy Frog was an example of how this craze based, internet culture can take a relative nothing and turn it into a wild phone on and how quick marketers can capitalize on it. Crazy Frog, a computer animation inspired by and spawned from the noises some kid made on his computer, became a rage in 2005, primarily because of it’s presence on the World Wide Web. Crazy Frog also birthed a number one hit single in the UK, Australia, and elsewhere with its remake of “Axel F” – the hit song from the 80’s movie franchise, Beverly Hills Cop, and was originally composed by Harold Falter Meyer. Crazy Frog got its start innocently enough. A 17 year old boy recorded himself impersonating the sounds of an internal combustion engine. Found on a website by a Swedish TV researcher, the man convinced the boy to perform the sound on live TV. He did and the recordings began popping up on P2P networks. The sounds then began showing up online. That’s when a Swede decided to create a 3D animation to go along with this, now anonymous, sound effect. Years later, a German company decided to license the sound and distribute it as a ringtone. Hence the Crazy Frog ringtone was formed.
Talk about synergy; the boy made the sound which inspired the character which spawned the ringtone. But that was just the beginning. Eventually, once big money was involved, they decided to release an album, which sold millions. Then a second album. Now they are in development for a TV show. All based around this character that may never have existed were it not for the kid in his room, imitating a sound, and posting it online. You can download the Crazy Frog ringtone. It’s very well saturated in the internet even if you’ve never heard of it before. Play the Crazy Frog ringtone online, download it to your phone, and share it with your friends. Crazy Frog is a shooting star; but will live on in perpetuity with the infinite information gathering, storing, sharing, and restoring of the internet. So get it now, or get later but get it, you will. Crazy Frog.
